THE BRIEF: This spot chronicles the journey of three aviators travelling from Ireland to the tip of Africa in a vintage plane. Due to the value and age of the aircraft the entire commercial needed to be shot in and around the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town. To achieve this the Cape Town Castle was transformed into a Moroccan Souk, the local gliding club turned into both an Irish airfield and Cameroonian Jungle – The Zebras and giraffes are real. Thankfully we don’t have to travel to capture animals in the wild. Shot in three days this commercial offers the epic scale and authenticity the client was looking for.

THE BRIEF: This commercial describes five very different people, each embarking on a unique journey of their own. To define each journey the locations had to be very different, presenting specific challenges that would demonstrate the individual performance of their tires. From steaming jungles to wide open deserts to modern city backdrops, Cape Town is renowned for the incredible diversity of locations that are within close range of this city. Shot in only two days, we were able to ensure maximum in-camera production value including constructing a massive waterfall downtown to merge the post production elements. It was an epic adventure!

THE BRIEF: This commercial required a number of adventurers travelling overland via vintage motorcycles from Scotland to the tip of Africa. Prohibitive travel costs and the logistics of shooting through Africa required us to recreate a number of iconic locations that defined their journey. From the Scottish Highlands to the Sahara, Masai-Mara and mighty Congo River this commercial was shot in three days in and around the cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg. We constructed the medium wide to close up shots on location and the wide shots were created using a combination of stock footage and 2d matt painting.

THE BRIEF: This spot was designed to capture the ultimate tropical island experience. From white sands and sparkling azure water to seaplanes, vintage sailing boats and lots of sunshine, Cape Town offered the perfect backdrop to shoot this commercial. Boasting some of the most spectacular beaches and Mediterranean climate, their proximity to the city ensured maximum visual style and production value – even the palm trees are real. The entire commercial was shot in and around the city of Cape Town including the sailing, seaplane and underwater sequences.

THE BRIEF: The success of this campaign relied on all the car stunts to be performed in-camera within a built up modern city. Shot in 2 days, the city of Cape Town offered an amazing backdrop where an incredible 9 locations including the incoming freeway were locked off. You will notice each scene is free of parked cars, signage and pedestrians. We were also able to fly a helicopter through the streets to capture the aerial footage.

 

THE BRIEF: This commercial required an apocalyptic desert setting to showcase a volleyball game between a number of beautiful women. Rather than the usual endless sprawl of dunes we presented a petrified forest on the banks of a lake to shoot this spot. The dead tree trunks enhanced the Mad Max feel of the film while offering the edgy fashion look the brand is known for.

THE BRIEF: The brief required us to recreate an old sailing ship sinking in a terrible storm. Drawing on the skills of local production designers and set-builders who had worked on blockbuster series like ‘Blacksails’ we constructed a life size deck of an old Galleon and mounted it on a giant gimbal. Battered by wind machines and massive water tanks the storm battering its crew assumed a frightening realism. To complete the picture these images were intercut with stock footage of an old ship sinking. As this material was only available in black and white the footage was hand coloured in post.

THE BRIEF: This spot required us to replicate an authentic a French Provencal style setting where a woman cycles through beautiful lavender and mustard fields. Due to the seasonal nature and global scarcity of these crops, the commercial was shot in Cape Town. In combination with local production designers and greensmen the nearby valley of Franschhoek was transformed into an authentic Eurocentric backdrop.

THE BRIEF: Cape Town is known for its great weather and its fine beaches. It is also renowned for the quality of its wine. As a result the Cape winelands boast some of the most authentic estates and distilleries. Rich in Eurocentric heritage they offer a wide range of settings from historic to contemporary. This commercial captured both the heritage and the modern look these locations present.

THE BRIEF: Our brief was to showcase our hero travelling through a number of extreme locations as he demonstrates the performance of his tires. From forests to mountain passes to parched deserts and coastal roads, Cape Town is known for some of the most visually spectacular driving locations. Due to these locations proximity to the city and the skill of local crew, we were able to schedule these seven very different locations into two shooting days.
